Your hearing

Here are the answers to some questions you may have about children's hearings.

Why do I need a children's hearing?

A children's hearing is arranged for you when adults are worried about your safety or wellbeing.

How will I find out about it?

If you are asked to go to a children’s hearing, you will get a letter from the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA).

This letter will tell you when the hearing is and where you need to go. It will be sent to the place where you are staying at least one week before your hearing.

Along with the letter, you will get a ‘Hearing About Me’ form.

We encourage you to fill this in because it helps the Panel Members understand:

  • what you think about where you live

  • how things are going at school

  • who is important in your life

  • what you would like to happen

You can also fill the form in on SCRA's website. There is one for Children and one for Young People.
