Giving feedback on behalf of a child or young person
Children and young people have the right to share their views about their hearing and tell us about their experience.
If you are supporting a child or young person after their hearing, you can help them give feedback in a way that feels comfortable for them. This might mean helping them understand the questions, writing down what they want to say, or supporting them to choose the way they would like to share their views.
Feedback can be positive or negative. Hearing what went well helps us understand what is working, and hearing about things that were difficult helps us make improvements.
It is important that the feedback reflects the child or young person's own views and experiences. Encourage them to use their own words and only share as much as they feel comfortable sharing.
Different ways to give feedback
Every child is different. Some children and young people may prefer to:
Fill in our feedback form
Talk to us by phone
Send us an email
Write to us by post
Record a voice note
Draw a picture to show how they felt about their hearing
There is no right or wrong way to give feedback. The most important thing is that the child or young person can share their experience in a way that works for them.
How you can help
You can support a child or young person by:
Giving them time and space to think about their hearing
Reassuring them that there are no right or wrong answers
Helping them understand any questions they find difficult
Writing down their views if they would like you to
Helping them send us a drawing, voice note, email or letter
Making sure their feedback is shared in their own words whenever possible
Every piece of feedback helps us learn how hearings feel for children and young people and helps us improve the experience for others in the future.
Thank you for helping children and young people have their voices heard.
