‘Six things we did’ – watch our child-friendly film
Children’s Hearings Scotland has released a short film to help children and young people understand the improvements CHS made for them in hearings in 2024-25.
‘Six things we did to make your children’s hearing better for you’ focuses on key changes made to improve hearings for children. It also shows how their voices and experiences helped shape the changes we made. The film highlights how important participation is in creating hearings that are safer, supportive and focused on what matters to children.
Empowering children in hearings
The film supports our 2024–25 Impact Report, published in October 2025, which highlights key improvements made in hearings across the reporting year. These are:
the launch of our Experts by Experience group for young people
our updated Children’s Participation and Rights Strategy
the ways CHS promotes continuity of Panel Members for children and families, wherever possible
young people with lived experience of hearings helping to recruit staff and volunteers, including sitting on interview panels
supporting the creation of the Language in the Hearing Room guide and ‘Articulate’ animation
our feedback pages, including our child-friendly feedback forms
‘It’s been a privilege to create this video for children and young people. We’ve designed it to be clear, engaging, and child-friendly so it’s easy for them to follow and feel included.
‘It’s important that children and young people understand the changes we make that affect them and, more importantly, how their voices continue to shape improvements within the Children’s Hearings System. I hope every child who watches it feels heard and respected.’

Children’s views at the centre
This film was made to speak directly to children about the things they told us mattered to them.
If you work with children and young people involved in hearings, we’d love to know if this video is helpful to them and the work that you do. Contact the CHS Communications Team at communications@chs.gov.scot to share your views.
