CHS welcomes passing of Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill

The Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill, often referred to as 'The Promise Bill', has completed its journey through Parliament.

When the Bill receives Royal Assent it will be allowed to become law, bringing in a range of reforms that will strengthen the children’s hearings system and help deliver the Promise by 2030.

Elliot Jackson, National Convener, Children’s Hearing Scotland, said:

‘These reforms represent the most significant changes to the Children’s Hearings System in over 50 years. They are dedicated to improving outcomes and the experience of children, young people and their families. This takes us another significant step towards delivering the Promise by 2030.

‘Getting the detail right will be critical and Children’s Hearings Scotland will be working hard over the next few months to ensure that any supporting legislation keeps children and families firmly at the centre.

'While there are many changes on the horizon, this new legislation reconfirms the Scottish Government’s commitment to volunteer Panel Members continuing to be an essential part of the hearings process, listening and making legal decisions with and for infants, children and young people in Scotland.'
