Our work to implement the Children’s (Scotland) Act 2020 is designed to improve sibling rights and implement best practice by measuring and evidencing our impact in this area in children’s hearings. To achieve this, we have undertaken a baseline assessment of Panel Members’ knowledge and confidence around sibling’s rights and the implementation of the duty to consider sibling contact via the Practice and Policy Bank. This will be repeated in 2023. Through training and multi-agency workshops we will continue to develop Panel Members’ knowledge of sibling’s rights and, to evidence the impact of this on children’s hearings, Panel Practice Advisors have been asked to support with evidence gathering from across Scotland.
