Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS) supports Scotland’s children and young people who require additional care or protection, working with them to make positive changes in their lives.
We recruit, train and support 2,500 volunteer Panel Members who take part in children’s hearings, making decisions with and for infants, children and young people across Scotland. Our organisation also supports a network of 22 Area Support Teams made up of 400 volunteers who support Panel Members in their local communities.
We are recruiting for an Area Support and Improvement Partner, who will be assigned to work with the Ayrshire Area Support team, but may be deployed across Scotland. You will work alongside our Area Support Teams and their local leaders (Area Conveners) providing strategic and operational support. You will play a vital role in ensuring that CHS delivers on The Promise, so we meet the expectations of children, young people and families. Knowledge and experience of using Quality Improvement to drive change for improvement is essential.
Our Area Support and Improvement Partners are responsible for driving improvement and change initiatives locally, and enabling national consistency. These posts are key to building relationships with our partners at a local level, looking for opportunities to implement change that improve hearings for the children and young people attending them, both now and in the future.
We are looking for a strategic and organised leader, with proven ability to quickly build sustainable relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You must be able to lead, drive and deliver change within a volunteer centric organisation ensuring a sound understanding of our mission, vision and values and how to embed change at a local level.
Most of the nine Area Support and Improvement Partners are responsible for supporting more than one Area Support Team, and you will be required to travel regularly across your local area, and occasionally across Scotland.
You will be required to work outside CHS’ normal working hours to meet the requirements of the job.

*As our Edinburgh city centre office remains closed at present, this role will initially be based at the employee’s home base.
