The Children's Panel - life changing

Children’s Hearings Scotland Welcomes New Volunteers! 11 November 2019

Elliot Jackson, recently appointed as National Convener and Chief Executive, is delighted to announce the appointment of two new volunteers. These volunteers are taking up the roles of Area Convener in East Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire respectively. This means that they will  be leading their local Area Support Teams, which provide support and guidance to volunteers on a local level.

Julie Marshall has been appointed to East Renfrewshire and took up her role in September.  Julie has a wealth of experience in the voluntary sector and currently leads a local charitable organisation as Chief Executive.

Judy Wilson, currently a volunteer Panel Member, will take up her appointment on 12 October in West Dunbartonshire. Judy has recently retired from more than 30 years with Police Scotland, where she reached the rank of Chief Inspector.  Throughout Judy’s career, she has been involved in child protection committees and has chaired multi-agency meetings, which will be of great value in her role as Area Convener. Judy has also engaged in a number of voluntary roles throughout her life from Parent Teacher Association, to guide leader and Duke of Edinburgh Award Assessor.

Elliot Jackson, National Convener and Chief Executive of Children’s Hearings Scotland said:  “The role of Area Convener requires strong leadership, working with partners at a strategic level while supporting our volunteer Panel Members whose aim is to improve the outcomes of infants, children and young people. We are delighted to welcome Julie and Judy to these vital roles within the local communities of West Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire”
