This policy outlines the process for recruitment, selection and recommendation to the National Convener for appointment of panel members

The National Convener is responsible for the appointment of such number of members to the national Children’s Panel as he/she considers appropriate under Schedule 2 of the Children’s Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 (the 2011 Act).

The National Convener has delegated responsibility for the recruitment, interview and selection of persons to be recommended to the National Convener for appointment as members of the Children’s Panel, to Area Support Teams (ASTs), specifi cally though the ‘Area Support Teams Functions, Roles and Responsibilities’.

This policy sets out the National Convener’s guidance to ASTs in relation to the approach to be taken at each stage of the selection process, when considering applications to membership of the Children’s Panel.
