Boyd McAdamNational Convener and Chief ExecutiveBoyd McAdam is the National Convener and Chief Executive of Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS). As National Convener, Boyd has specific statutory duties under the Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 and as Chief Executive he has responsibility for providing leadership and management to CHS and is accountable to the CHS Board. Boyd was appointed as Interim National Convener and Chief Executive by the CHS Board at the end of March 2014, on secondment from the Scottish Government. Then following a public competition, Boyd was appointed as the permanent National Convener and Chief Executive in July. Prior to his appointment to CHS, Boyd held various positions within the Scottish Government. From 1997-2004, Boyd was responsible for the Children’s Hearings System and the sponsorship for the then newly-created Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA). Following this, he was involved in the review of the Children’s Hearings System from 2004 to 2006. Since 2006, Boyd has worked on the development and promotion of the Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) approach to improving wellbeing and outcomes for all children in Scotland. His responsibilities also included policy on children’s rights and United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), youth work and disabled children. Most recently, Boyd was Head of the Better Life Chances Unit within the Scottish Government where he played a leading role in supporting Ministers on the key child-centred provisions in the Children and Young People Act 2014 and their implementation.
